Research and Development Project 2023-2024:
Creative Technologies, Participation and Dramaturgy

Sound Catchers Research and Development Project 2023-2024: Creative Technologies, Participation and Dramaturgy.

We are thrilled to have been awarded funding from Arts Council England to carry out the next phase of the project’s development in working with a range of fantastic organisations and creatives based in the East Midlands over 2023-2024.

The project will develop working wearable tech to use in our up-and-coming performances that generates light and sound in response to movement. Working with creative technologist David WIlson Clarke and prop designer Tom Cleaver, we will experiment with ideas for creative tech in collaboration with members of Hubbub Theatre, Derby Deaf Youth Theatre, Near Now Studios and Phoenix Arts to gain feedback on what we are developing and how we are using it in the show.

Another strand of this project will bring together a creative design team to develop ideas for a 2 meter high roving tower set-piece that will house percussion alongside light and sound generating installations that are operated through movement. We are interested to learn how this idea will become part of the storytelling of a processional show in the future.
